Emily Unwin (she/her) is a queer writer who splits her time between the American Southeast and the United Kingdom.

In 2023, Emily was endorsed by Arts Council England to live and work in the UK under the Global Talent Visa, with Exceptional Promise in Literature. She currently lives in Edinburgh working as the Project Manager/Course Coordinator for Granta Writers’ Workshop and as a Professional Writing Academy Moderator.

Emily is the co-founder of Finley Light Factory and tacky! Magazine. Emily has published in The London Magazine, Litro, Heavy Feather Review, Gigantic Sequins (finalist for the 2021 flash fiction contest), Polyester Zine, & Made in Appalachia (long-listed for the 2022 Perennial Press Chapbook Award), among others. She was awarded The White Pube’s Creative Grant for her short story collection.

Emily is represented by Joanna Volpe and Jordan Hill at New Leaf Literary.

*tacky! Magazine, an online multimedia magazine that highlights LGBTQ+ & BIPOC artists in the Athens community. Emily & Aaron (co-founders) were awarded the AAAC Quarterly Grant and were finalists in the Get Artistic DIY Grant Program. They were featured in Flagpole Magazine in 2021.
